Stardew 1.7 May Tease — Festivals, Quest Boards, and Married Life
Pelican Town still has room to grow — 1.7 is shaping up beyond new romance routes.

We already know Clint and Sandy are coming to the marriage roster in Stardew Valley 1.7 — ConcernedApe made that official during the game’s tenth-anniversary video in February. What is newer, and easy to miss, is how much else he is quietly sketching for the same update.

In a May 2026 interview with Game Informer, Eric Barone talked about keeping Pelican Town lively years into a save — not just adding two more spouses.

Festivals that stay worth attending

Barone said he wants to revisit festivals so they remain engaging even after you have seen the same dialogue a dozen times. He did not spell out concrete changes — new mini-games, rotating vendors, and year-two surprises are all plausible — but the intent is clear: seasonal events should not feel like checkbox chores once your farm is established.

For cozy players who keep a decade-old save, that is arguably as meaningful as another heart event.

Festivals anchor Pelican Town's rhythm — 1.7 may give veterans a reason to show up again.

Quest Board and Special Orders

The Quest Board outside Pierre’s and the Special Orders bulletin at the town square are also on his radar. Barone suggested both could be fleshed out in 1.7 — more variety, better pacing, or rewards that matter mid-to-late game.

If you have ignored those boards since year three, a future patch might finally pull you back.

Marriage as a living relationship

Beyond new candidates, Barone said he would like more interactions between married people — married life that continues to evolve instead of freezing after the wedding scene.

That pairs with his earlier tease about making children more interesting, another popular fan request he acknowledged in February interviews. Together, those hints suggest 1.7 is partly a “family life” pass on top of the Clint and Sandy headlines.

What he is not rushing

There is still no release date, and Barone’s Haunted Chocolatier blog posts describe a relaxed team pace on Stardew while he focuses on creative direction. Expect drip-fed teases rather than a countdown clock.

He also remains cautious about romancing already-married townsfolk like Robin or Demetrius — morally complicated for escapist Pelican Town, even if sandbox freedom tempts some players.

While you wait

Finish a bundle, attend the next festival on your calendar, and check the Quest Board once this week. When 1.7 lands, you may arrive with habits the update is trying to reward.
